UPDATED SCREENCAST: Install Apache on a New EC2 Instance from the AWS CLI (using CloudShell)

In a previous post, I showed you how to create an EC2 instance from the CLI on AWS and use a script that would update the packages on the system and install Apache so that the instance could be accessed via a public webpage.

In that video, I mentioned that I couldn’t find all of the commands that I needed to complete the entire project from the AWS CLI. Specifically, I couldn’t figure out the command to get the AMI ID that I needed to launch an EC2 instance.

Well, my teammate at Level Up In Tech, Boman Avong, was able to figure out that command, and I was able to give him some of the commands that I found, and together, we were able to put the whole thing together.

As a result of our efforts, I wanted to create another screencast, but I also wanted to add a twist and do everything from CloudShell within AWS.
